Why is it important for babies to sleep?

When kids get the sleep they need, they may have a lower risk of becoming overweight and developing diabetes as well as fewer learning problems and attention issues. Sleep is as important as nutrition and exercise. It's when the body repackages neurotransmitters, chemicals that enable brain cells to communicate.

Why is sleep important for the brain?

Sleep is important to a numberof brain functions, including how nerve cells (neurons) communicate with each other. In fact, your brain and body stayremarkably active while you sleep. Recent findingssuggest that sleep plays ahousekeeping role that removes toxins in your brain that build upwhile you are awake.
