Neurosurgeon vs. Psychiatrist

Neurosurgeon vs. Psychiatrist

A primary difference between neurosurgeons and psychiatrists is that the former deals with physical conditions of the brain and nervous system and the latter deals with mental conditions that stem from chemical issues or distorted thinking. Neurosurgery is used in extreme cases to repair physical ailments stemming from damage to the brain or nervous system. Psychiatrists receive patients who are struggling with mental, cognitive or emotional issues.

Work Environment for Neurosurgeon vs. Psychiatrist

Neurosurgeons and psychiatrists both work in stressful jobs, but their work environments vary. Neurosurgeons typically work in emergencyrooms or operating rooms and sometimes perform risky procedures that may affectpatient quality of life, or even life and death. Psychiatrists deal withstressful conversations based on patient burdens, but they try to manage theirenvironment with comfortable furniture and soft decor. Psychiatrists usuallysit during their meetings with patients in either a psychiatry office or a homeoffice.
